Lavish India holidays Tour with luxurytoursindia.net

It was December 4th 2009 and our trip was from kolkatta to jorhat to kazirange. I met the group at the kolkatta airport that was led by Dr. Fritz Jantschke to board the jorhat flight. Apoorva our local escort met us on the jorhat airport and after a quick introduction we headed towards kaziranga. We went to our rooms the moment we reached the lodge and again reassembled in the dining hall for a brief on the program for the next day.

December 05th, we were going for the 2nd elephant ride which was already decided the previous night. The elephant ride was quite exciting as we saw the dead skin of king cobra, a pair of Lesser Adjutant Stork, and a herd of wild Asiatic buffaloes. We had breakfast after returning from the ride and then again went on an excursion by jeep in kaziranga’s central range. This excursion added to the excitement as we spotted an Indian roller, 40 rhinos, a Greater Adjutant Stork and a group of Open Billed Storks. The day came to an end by returning to the lodge after the long day of excitement.

On the 6th of December, the third day of the trip, we immediately got on the jeeps to proceed towards the eastern range of the national park in kaziranga. This region was not loaded with animals but after a drive further down we could see the great Brahmputra River. Our guide also showed us the fresh pug marks on the bank of the river of a tigress and her cubs.

7th December brought with it another elephant ride as the climate was foggy. On the ride we soon came across a Soft Ground Barasingha with its magnificent antlers. This being the last day at kaziranga we after the ride went to visit the rubber plantations to see how latex is used to make rubber. After watching a couple of rhinoceros in the western region we returned to the lodge to take rest for the next day’s excitement.

On the 8th of December we left for Guwahati for the group to see some endangered animals at the Guwahati Zoo. Although most of the animals were not there at the zoo but still we managed to see a Hoolock Gibbon along with Brow Antlered Deer on the way to Manas. We reached Manas quite late at night and so slept as soon as we were shown the beds.

The 9th December was the day for the national park in Manas. Soon after leaving the camps we saw high on trees a group of Capped Langurs. Every one undoubtedly had seen the beautiful Capped Langurs for the first time. The later part of this day was spent at the camp with just walking a midst the flora of Manas.

On the 10th of December we saw the Mothanguri Forest lodge that overlooked the royal national park in Manas and Manas River. On the way back we also managed to see a samber. The 11th December was Friday, a day for the local market, so every one had to stop there. The evening brought with it the happening arrangements made by the local tribe for the group.

On December 12th after seeing the elusive and rare Golden Langur our trip ended at the Guwahati airport a three hours drive from Manas. This trip undoubtedly gave us innumerable memories to cherish forever.
